Foundation “ASSIST – Assistive Technologies” organizes the First international conference “Augmentative and Alternative Communication” – AAC2018.
The Conference presents the global experience in modern approaches and technologies for children and adults with communication difficulties – cerebral palsy, autism, multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and others.
The aim of the conference is to acquaint professionals working with people with disabilities in Bulgaria, with various methods of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) – these are all methods that supplement or replace speech and written language (some of these methods rely on modern technology other methods do not require any technological means).
Furthermore, to present approaches concerning working with children with disabilities (cerebral palsy, autism, multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities) and their education in learning communication skills.
The conference is not only aimed at specialists working with people with disabilities, but also to the people with disabilities themselves and their families, as well as representatives of the institutions in Bulgaria which introduce and implement policies regarding people with disabilities.

To participate in the conference it is required to register and pay a participation fee before the 1st November 2018 (or until all places are booked).
The conference is organized by “ASSIST – Assistive Technologies” Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and UNICEF – Bulgaria, with the assistance of International Association for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC), and with the organisational support of the National Alliance for Social Responsibility (NASO).
